A robust plant habit with sturdy stems, flowering over a long period. Makes a stunning border plant, with excellent garden performance, and being self cleaning, no dead heading is required.
A perennial herbaceous plant 70-90 cm high, which will decorate garden flower beds and balcony pots with magnificent flowers. Bright flowers are collected in large and dense paniculate inflorescences (flower diameter 6-7 cm). Flowers on long peduncles, tubular-bell-shaped, fiery red, purple-pink and bright purple tones, unusually bright and attractive.
Light-loving and heat-loving, prefers sunny places (tolerates light partial shade) and fertile drained soil. In very cold winters it can freeze, therefore for the winter the plants are covered with leaves, humus, spruce branches.
Penstemons combine well with many tall plants, for example, with white-flowered lilies, roses, sage and are widely used in landscaping, as well as for cutting.
Agricultural technology.
Prefers sunny, well-lit places. The soils should be dry, well-cultivated, loose, rich in nutrients. To obtain seedlings, seeds are sown in prepared soil in the spring. Germination is carried out at a temperature of +18+22°C for 4 weeks, maintaining constant humidity and providing illumination. Then the temperature is maintained within +16+18°C and humidity is reduced. Crops can be sprinkled with vermiculite. They are transplanted to a permanent place when the threat of severe frosts has passed.

Eng.: Hartweg's beardtongue, scarlet beard tongue. Bot.syn.: Penstemon gentianoides (H.B.K.) Poir.
